RL101 - Fundamentals of Retail Link® Software

Develop a solid foundation on the fundamentals of Wal-Mart's Retail Link® software & Decision Support software in Delta's workshop.

Your company is a supplier to Wal-Mart or Sam's. You're aware of Wal-Mart's Retail Link® software, you may even be using it to some degree, but you know you could be doing more to maximize the information of this powerful tool.

This is where Delta can help. We can provide the guidance and hands-on training you need to better utilize the data available in Retail Link® software.  We'll show you how to build basic queries and how to further customize them to meet your informational needs. In addition, we'll show you some tricks on how to manage information to keep track your business - and, as a result, grow it.

A hands-on, highly practical workshop, RL101 begins with an overview of Wal-Mart's Retail Link® software and its application to your business. The balance, and bulk, of the course then focuses on using Decision Support - exploring the various reporting capabilities of this powerful retail tool.

In this one day workshop, you will:

Learn how to answer fundamental business questions.

  • What items are performing best based on sales dollars?
  • Where is my business heavy and light on inventory?
  • What business segment has experienced the most sales dollars growth?
  • What is my business trend?
  • Has average price fluctuated over time?
  • What are the top performing stores for a given item based on sales?
  • Where are there out of stocks?
  • What is sellthru for a given period of time?
  • What locations have potential pricing issues?

Discover the powerful data that resides in Wal-Mart's Retail Link® software and the various tools within that allow you to quickly assess your business needs. We will explore the various queries within Decision Support and focus mainly on two - Company Summary and Store Detail - that will answer the bulk of your daily business questions.

Master the four fundamentals of query design - your desired items, time frame, locations and report columns - and we'll show you how these work together to construct virtually any query you wish to build.

Advance your knowledge and skills in using Microsoft® Excel, so that you can maximize the data you receive through queries. We'll show you how to sort, filter large amounts of data and write basic formulas, so that you can apply the functionality learned in Excel to various datasets.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is designed for individuals who have had little or no experience with Wal-Mart's Retail Link® software, or who are familiar with the types of information available in the Retail Link® software but lack the necessary skills to construct fundamental queries. In addition, the class is designed for individuals who may know how to build a query but need some additional learning about Wal-Mart in general.

During the workshop, each attendee will have their own computer which they will use to log into Retail Link® software. There will be no sharing of PC's. This will enable each attendee to save the exercises conducted in class to their UserId and be available to them when they return to work.
